Upgrade Builder Grade

CONGRATULATIONS, you just bought your new house! … and now you’re broke! However, that does not mean you have to live with that brutal contractor grade lighting, boring natural oak cabinetry and dull bland white walls. With some effort and reading the rest of this blog, transform that beautiful money pit into a home without breaking the bank.

Step One.

Basic boring oak cabinets, a dime a dozen. Make those cabinets scream custom by adding some paint. Prime and slap on a divine bold colour. Go minimal modern with black or go simple and classic with white. However, my favourite option go bold with a navy blue. By changing this one design flaw, you will not only be dropping the basic boring wood tone, you are on your way to creating your perfect design style.

Step Two.

Add molding around that basic bathroom mirror. This will instantly add an upgraded look and also add more detail to your space. This is a quick and easy DIY project that can be completed in just a few hours!

Step Three.

Add crown molding to the top of your kitchen cabinets. This will make them look custom and once again will add an upgraded look on a low cost budget.

Step Four.

Upgrade that boring contractor lighting. A great way to do this is by making a trip to the best place on earth, IKEA! Not only do they have great pieces for lighting, they also have a great selection of basically anything and everything for your home. Both low end and high end accessories, furniture, kitchen items you name it and they have it.

These simple changes will bring your home from boring to beautiful. Not only are they simple fixes but, they will make a big impact on your home design. Remember any small detail usually gives a big impact on your décor or design. Be bold.
