Once again 2015 is on its way out! So here is more of my top favourite design trends of 2015!

Statement Lighting

You can not see a space without lighting. Even more statement lighting has been on the rise in 2015 and it does not look like it is slowing down. Lighting was only used to be used for literally lighting a space, however, over the last few years lighting has become more of a statement in a space. Adding in statement lighting can add the final detailing touch to any room.  As seen in the picture the room has a bold modern feeling, and is finished off with the beautiful gold statement light above the table. As you can tell this piece brings the space together and adds an amazing detail also. 2015 was a big year for lighting and like I said it is just going to keep getting better in 2016.

Tan leather

Material plays a large roll in a room and 2015 totally fell in love with tan leather. Leather warms a room like natural wood does and like natural wood, you only want a pop of tan leather. This would be used for accent piece like a bench at the end of a bed or a few chairs. Leather has been around for a long time, but for me I think the colour of it really defines the look that you are going for. Tan leather brings a modern look to the space and can be match to almost anything.  I have a feeling that we will be seeing a lot more of this in 2016.

Oversized art

IMG_20150813_094631Art is another detail that brings a space together, but for 2015 I have been all about oversized artwork. An oversized print in the entryway is a great way to make a stylish first impression on your house guests. Or in my home, I used an over sized black and white print poster to fill a large scaled wall. I always love how art can transform a space, not only to fill an empty void but also to add character to the space. Your artwork is an expression of yourself, so it is pretty clear that this trend is not going anywhere anytime soon.

Two more days until we say adios to 2015 and hello to 2016. So tune in tomorrow to see what made it on my list of favourite design trends of 2015.
